Description
Precise ultrasonic cutting for maker and DIY work
The MakerPicked 35W ultrasonic cutter drives its blade at approximately 40kHz. The rapid micro-vibration reduces the hand pressure needed for suitable model-making, craft, foam, thin-plastic and 3D-print finishing work, helping produce a controlled, clean edge.
Cutting performance depends on the material, geometry, blade style and condition, feed speed, power supply and cooling. Owner testing indicates that many suitable 3–5mm materials can be cut comfortably; always test a scrap sample first.
Choose the package
DIY Core Kit — US$59.90
For experienced makers who will build their own insulated enclosure and strain relief. It includes the mature controller/driver board and ultrasonic handpiece system, the selected blade style, button hardware, required screws and a USB-style power lead. The supplied lead is for power only and does not transfer data.
Hand-Assembled & Tested Set, No Fan — US$99.90
The same core parts are installed into a handheld enclosure, assembled by hand and function-tested before dispatch. The US$40 difference pays for enclosure preparation, manual assembly and individual testing. This version has no integrated cooling fan.
Power-source note: the included USB-style lead supplies power only. A wall adapter or other regulated DC source is not included unless a variation or order confirmation explicitly says so.
Choose the blade
- Flat-end blade: a straight, flat front cutting edge for controlled trimming and suitable straight cuts.
- Approximately 30° angled blade: a slanted cutting edge similar to the blade shown in the product images, useful for access, detail work and directional trimming.
The selected blade is fitted or supplied with the chosen package. Disconnect power before installing, removing or touching a blade.
Choose the enclosure color
Hand-assembled sets can be ordered in black, blue, red, white or yellow. DIY core kits have no enclosure. The multi-color enclosure images are presentation guides; final shade, surface texture and small construction details can vary with the production batch. We confirm the selected color before dispatch if availability changes.
Production and pre-dispatch testing
The controller, driver and ultrasonic module use a mature production architecture sourced from an established manufacturer in Mainland China. Each order is checked and powered on for a functional test before dispatch. Testing substantially reduces avoidable assembly problems, although no electronic or shipped product can be represented as completely failure-proof.
Preparation lead time: when the item is not already stocked in Hong Kong, sourcing and preparation normally take approximately 7–10 days before international dispatch. Severe weather, natural disasters, supplier interruption or transport disruption may extend this estimate. The applicable lead time will be disclosed before payment when checkout opens.
Key specifications
| Maximum rated power | 35W |
|---|---|
| Operating frequency | 40kHz |
| Input range | 5–9V DC |
| Recommended everyday input | 5V for most personal craft and DIY tasks |
| Absolute voltage limit | 9V maximum; never exceed 9V |
| Ultrasonic assembly | Titanium alloy |
| Cooling | No integrated fan in this version |
| Blade choices | Flat-end or approximately 30° angled |
| Assembled enclosure colors | Black, blue, red, white or yellow |
5V or 9V?
Use 5V first. It is sufficient for most personal handicraft, model and light DIY cutting, while reducing heat buildup.
9V is the absolute maximum, not the default. Higher input increases thermal load. Above 5V or during extended sessions, provide effective external cooling, monitor the controller and handpiece temperature, use short duty cycles and stop if heat becomes excessive. Never connect a supply above 9V.
Safety
- This is a sharp powered cutting tool for informed adult use, not a toy.
- Wear eye protection, secure the workpiece and keep hands behind the cutting direction.
- Disconnect power before changing the blade or working on exposed electronics.
- Use a stable, correctly rated regulated DC source. Reverse polarity, short circuits, excessive voltage and inadequate current capacity may damage the board or create a hazard.
- Cut plastics only with suitable ventilation. Do not cut unknown, hazardous, pressurized, live-electrical or flammable materials.
- The DIY core requires a proper insulated enclosure, strain relief, cooling plan and competent assembly before routine use.
Shipping and returns
Orders ship from Hong Kong and the regional shipping charge is shown before payment. Every unit is tested before dispatch. Because international change-of-mind returns are costly, non-defective returns are only accepted where the published terms or applicable consumer law provide that right. Confirmed defects, transit damage and incorrect items are handled under our published return process. Read the shipping, customs and return policy.
